Enter your FortiGate or FortiWiFi serial number and see the model and licence expiry we find for it — free, no account, no obligation. Useful before budget season, before a tender, or any time "when does our firewall licence expire?" gets asked and nobody knows.
Find it on the sticker underneath the appliance, or in the FortiGate dashboard. Starts with FGT, FWF or FG.

Log into the web interface and open System → FortiGuard — each licence shows its expiry. On the CLI, run get system fortiguard-service status for the same information per service.
Log into support.fortinet.com with the account the device is registered to, open Asset Management, and select the unit. Note: the date shown on the appliance can differ from the portal by a day — the device displays the day after expiry as its cut-off, which regularly confuses audits. The portal date is the contractual one.
Once the licence lapses, FortiGuard protection updates stop and support ends — quietly. The firewall doesn't alarm; traffic keeps flowing. Most businesses only discover the lapse during an incident or an audit. The full picture: what happens when a FortiGate licence expires.
Either way, renewal takes two minutes to kick off. Late renewals are back-dated, so don't wait for it to get worse.
